Spring Show 2026

Spring Show Report - 14 th March 2026

The number of entries for this first show of the year was tremendous. Being the Spring Show the focus is on the daffodils. We haven't seen such a display of daffodils on the show benches for many years. As most of us who bring our daffodils along to exhibit are not experts, the Show Committee ask the judge for assistance with getting them into the correct class before judging begins. This proves that absolutely anyone can bring a daffodil to the show and we'll find the correct place for it. It really helps if you know the name of the daffodil so when you purchase the bulbs please keep a note of the name and bring this to the show. There are helpful guidance notes and diagrams in the Show Schedule to help with which daffodil class to enter.

The photography section of the show continues to grow in popularity and this now runs the length of the hall. The judge has a tricky job as the quality of the images is excellent.

The home produce section included some beautiful cakes. The handicraft section demonstrated we have a talented group of members - from artists to woodworkers and "knitters and stitchers".

Our sponsor, Robert Cooper Estate Agents, continue to support with setting the show up. A team of six arrived at 8 am and we had the tables ready for the entries in good time for the 9 am start. We continue to be grateful for their assistance.

The sunshine on the day brought a crowd along in the afternoon to enjoy homemade cake and to see the exhibits. Almost all the cakes were sold!

The presentation of the awards at the end of the afternoon was by the Worshipful the Mayor of Hillingdon, Cllr Philip Corthorne. He was accompanied by his wife, the Mayoress, Fiona Corthorne. They seemed to enjoy talking to other visitors and exhibitors including a group from St Vincent's Nursing Home. Our President, Catherine Dann, was also in attendance.

We're looking forward to the Summer Show in June and hope to see more entries from our first-time exhibitors.

Royal Horticultural Society Certificate of Recognition Award 2025

The Royal Horticultural Society provides each of the Affiliated Societies a “Certificate of Recognition” which can be presented to someone who has gone the extra mile in the last year. The Eastcote Horticultural Society includes this presentation in our Annual Awards at the Spring Show. In 2025, this Society’s committee agreed that the award should go to our President, Catherine Dann. The Society is indebted to Catherine for her outstanding service as our President. She accepted this role in 2005 and has been actively supporting the Society for the last 20 years and continues to do so. Catherine is always present at our Shows, AGMs and events at the Trading Hut and Eastcote House Gardens, with helpful words of support and advice. At the Shows she takes the lead with meeting and greeting guests including the Mayor and presenting the awards to the winners. We are honoured to have such a valued member of the Eastcote community as our President and this award recognises her involvement with our Society over many years.
