The first of the three annual shows of the Ruislip Central Horticultural Society was held at the Great Barn, Bury Street, Ruislip on Saturday. (19th March). The weather made for a successful spring show, as it was a bright and sunny day that you would have expected during the summer. After what had been a very cold spell the daffodils bounced back providing the day with a most colourful display. This was of course complimented by all of the other spring flowers, plants, shrubs and even cacti, being staged by the members. The floral exhibit of an Easter Bunny was the surprise star of the show, which was arranged by Sarah Gilham (aged 11) who also won several other classes. Refreshments were on hand for those weary of looking at the plants and sniffing the scented blooms in the way of handmade cakes, many made by the Domestic entrants and of course the usual beverages. Their next show is the Summer Show on Saturday 18th June. Entrance is free and starts at 2pm with prize giving at 4:30pm. |
